The Elite Physical Therapy Experience
Karina Kofford, PT, DPT
Owner, Physical Therapist
Karina graduated from the University of Utah with a doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2020. After years of competing as a gymnast herself, she went on to coach the sport while obtaining her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science. While coaching, she was inspired to go on to graduate school to be able to better help gymnasts.
My approach is patient-centered and based on individual goals and needs. I use evidence-based research to guide my treatments and return-to-sport care. My objective is to not only heal injuries and prevent re-injury, but to educate athletes about their bodies to enable them to take charge of their health, to achieve an elevated level of body awareness, and to support the prevention of future injuries.
"As a former gymnast, I am aware of the frequency and level of injuries that gymnasts sustain throughout their career. From my own personal injuries as an athlete, I found that standard physical therapy does not meet the needs of a competitive gymnast. Through my knowledge of the sport, I hope to bridge the gap between injury treatment and gymnastics performance."
